So here's what I have, in total in terms of old computers:
-NuXT running at 9.55MHz with an 8087 co-processor, VGA graphics, 640K of RAM and 170-something K of VRAM, with a single 1.44MB floppy drive and a 64MB CF card as a C drive, running DOS 6.22 and Windows 2.03
-Samsung Sensor SP-386SX, with the 2400BPS modem removed, an XT-CF card installed with 512MB CF card, Windows 3.11, 3.5" 1.44MB floppy drive, 12MHz 386, 4MB RAM
-Some build with a strange 100MHz Pentium board that accepts ATX power, came with a (working) mystery SVGA card, GoTek floppy emulator, 16MB RAM, 1GB CF card, nonfunctional 1.44MB floppy drive, running Windows 95 (the floppy version)
-Upgraded Packard-Bell Multimedia 820, 300MHz Cyrix M-300, 32MB of RAM, Soundblaster 16 sound card, 3GB spinning hard disk, CD-ROM drive (from another machine, the old CD-ROM died, so I installed the new one), 1.44MB floppy drive, 1.2MB 5.25" floppy drive, 10-megabit Ethernet card
-The machine I'm writing this on, running an Athlon XP-M at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM, DVD burner, ATI Rage XL 8MB display adapter, nonfunctional 1.44MB 3.5" floppy drive, connected to the LAN via a 100-megabit built-in Ethernet controller, 1TB SATA hard drive (I think)
To get list for each machine, in order:
NuXT:
Replacement for the Adlib card
360KB 5.25" floppy drive
New case and PSU
Samsung Sensor SP-386SX:
Tseng Labs ET4000 graphics card
Spare serial modem
100MHz Pentium:
S3 Trio3D graphics card
IDE CD-ROM drive
Sound card
Spare serial modem
Packard-Bell Multimedia 820:
Geforce FX 5500 PCI
128MB RAM upgrade (2x64mb 168-pin EDO DIMMs)
XP machine:
Geforce 210 (that's basically it)
Also would like to replace all of the flat-panels for the old machines with CRT's and get GamePort controllers, but that's for another day. |
