What are your favorite burger toppings/condiments?
What ingredient is a must have when dressing your burgers?

For me I enjoy toasted buns with mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, ketchup, and mustard with a slice of tomato, lettuce and either colby jack or cheddar cheese. Your traditional dive bar burger.

The one ingredient that is a must have without exception is freshly ground black pepper. There is something about a fresh grind of pepper on a burger fresh off the grill that brings out the flavor of the meat. With the other ingredients listed above the pepper is the best compliment to it all.

Hah I'm so going to get hate for this but... I really don't like toppings on burgers. At best maybe Cheese but that has to be a specific kind, not the plastic like American Cheese you see in store. Salt and Pepper though is fine.

I usually do cheese, lettuce, tomato, raw onion, and ketchup + mustard. Sometimes I'll skip the ketchup + mustard and do mayo instead, and a couple times I even put potato chips on my burger.

Don't you get the old timer with cheese from Chili's? Do you ask for it plain? lol

Yes, unironically.

Smile

So it depends on the type/category of burger.

Fast-food or restaurant:
Meat, cheese, mustard, bun

Home/Made at home:
Meat, cheese, mustard, bun

Cookout/Home Cookout:
Meat, cheese, bun, mayo, bbq sauce

send disagreements to spam@rarbg.to Very Happy

The only topping that matters is cheese. I want as much cheese as they will give me, of whatever kind they happen to have. Yes I will get 5 different kinds of cheese on my burger.

I personally really do not like the taste of beef or steak. I prefer my meat from birds or pigs, to be quite honest, but if I have to get a burger (and this does happen often), just slap as much cheese on it as you can until I can't taste the beef.

Also, if cheese stocks are limited, a good sauce is absolutely CRUCIAL. There is a local restaurant called <name redacted> which makes cheeseburgers that have 3 slices of cheese, toasted buns, diced onions, pickles, and some kind of sauce that is pretty fantastic.

I like pickles but I will often get them on the side rather than actually on the burger. Onions do not really bother me.

mmm, cheese drool

I love cheese, but at the same time I also do like the taste of meat, so too much cheese can actually ruin a burger for me. That being said, I will often just eat cheese by itself just to eat cheese lol.

I do like when restaurants have a special sauce, even if it is usually just some variant of thousand island dressing.

I'm not like hardcore vegan or anything, I just don't really enjoy cow meat. Ground and shredded beef has just a grimy texture and I'm not too keen on the flavor either.

That said, agreed, I will absolutely eat shredded cheese out of the bag or sliced cheese out of the pack.

This is some kind of mixture of regular condiments. It's not spicy, which I appreciate.

So I work at Wendy's, as some of you may know, and I have a few go-to special orders I do on days I'm feeling like it.

Baconator with the Burger Build option: The standard Wendy's Baconator sandwiches come in four variants (Single, Double, Triple, and the "Son," which is two 1/8lb patties as opposed to the 1/4lb patties of the other three), with cheese and bacon on each patty, and mayo and ketchup as the toppings. Specifying "Burger Build" means you get all the toppings that would come on a standard Dave's burger or Big Bacon Classic. This means that you now have a Big Bacon Classic, with more bacon.

Cheesy Cheddar Burger with Extra Cheese and Extra Onions: The Cheesy Cheddar Burger is an off-menu item that has cheese sauce on a value bun, with a 1/8lb patty and cheese. Specifying Extra Cheese gives you one more slice of cheese, and specifying Extra Onions means you will get an extra onion flavor (and cheese and onion is a very classic combination).

Junior Bacon Cheeseburger ordered with Only Extra Onions, with a BBQ sauce cup on the side: You can't actually get BBQ sauce as a burger topping at Wendy's as of this writing, but they do have a Honey BBQ sauce that they have in cup form. This is somewhat similar to Steak 'n Shake's Western BBQ burger, and actually came to me in a dream! The bacon, onions, and BBQ work together really nicely flavor-wise. This works with any burger on the menu that has bacon, although the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger and Bacon Double Stack burgers are available as part of their Biggie Bag value meals. You could try also ordering crisped onions (a topping for their Cobb Salad) a la carte, for some added crunch. Be sure to grab a cutlery set or spoon so you can spread the BBQ sauce on the bun effectively.

So a few updates to my last post here:

Firstly, they have discontinued the Bacon Double Stack Biggie Bag, however you can still order the Double Stack Biggie Bag and ask for bacon on the sandwich.

Secondly, I have a new creation to add! Apparently this is similar to kapsalon in The Netherlands (thanks Clara for that bit of info). The idea behind this one is to order a Biggie Bundle meal with two sandwiches of your choice (you can choose between the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, the Double Stack, Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe, and Crispy Chicken), replace the fries with Baconator fries, get a ranch cup, ketchup, and mayo packets, and then mix everything together.

So, I have some potentially exciting news:

Wendy's has a new off-menu burger, I don't know if they'll eventually put it on the menu or not. It's the Cheesy Bacon Burger. It also coincides with the release of potato buns, which are the new premium bun.

It is basically a Cheesy Cheddar Burger (see my first post in the thread), but it has bacon, uses a potato bun, uses quarter pound meat, and comes in a single, double, or triple option. It can also be combo'd. I ordered one today with extra onions and extra pickles added, and it was really good.

So, for an off-menu burger, is that something regular people can order or is that just something that's coming soon? Do you have to order it a specific way?
