VS2005 for lyfe
unironically i think it's the IDE i've spent the most time in, as well as VB .NET being one of my more familiar languages _________________ - parasquared

Oh yeah I definitely got my use out of VS2005. Much of my learning in C++ was done there.
Frankly, I'm ecstatic to never use it again. I don't miss that minute long startup time and the need to restart the IDE every like 15 minutes to get rid of bogus errors.
Definitely pulled some hair out debugging something it claimed was a critical, build-stopping error, only to find that restarting the environment made it go away and 0 errors / 0 warnings... Frustrating to say the least.
These days I do most of my work in Code::Blocks 12.17. it's a lot more reliable. To answer the inevitable question for "why that version," it's because it works really well in Windows XP but still works perfectly all the way to 10. |
