I wanted to make a thread for cool old setups I find.
This is one from 2005

Anyways, use this thread for posting whatever cool desktop setups of the 2000s you can find!

Remember, they have to be embedded images.

Also sorry if this seems like a nonsense thread

One that's always stood out to me is the render farm used for Toy Story.

There's also Theo de Raadt's rack of computers used to build OpenBSD, which is another one of my favorites.

They are, aren't they? Unix machines, my beloved. Smile

That's a good question. Jimmy Neutron (the movie) came out about six years after Toy Story, and the TV series about a year after that. Given how much computing hardware changed in those six to seven years, I'd imagine that the render farm could have been made considerably smaller.

Some of my favorites are the horrendous ISP closets from the early dial-up era.

Years ago, I also found this Spanish website where someone was documenting the process of building a homemade double high case by sticking two together. There were some good pictures in there.

If you scroll back on HardOCP forums, there's a lot of good stuff in there too.

Given that it is literally two standard PC cases welded together, I think there is a good chance you could do that if you so desired.

There were also some cases in the 90s and early 00s that could do this right from the factory, mostly big stuff with wheels that nobody seemed to keep around sadly.

See, now we're getting the REAL forum experience. They're hosted on my website so if you can access my website, they should embed just fine.

Here are the direct links if you want to give them a try.
