What if the Iphone 1 presentation failed
There's the common idea (never knew if it was true) that when the first iphone was presened to masses in a press conference, it was 3 devices, one for web browsing, one for calling, one for music as there wasn't a prototype yet.
So, what would have happened if this trick was found out mid presentation and the media presented it as a scam?
The iphone bombs at the market (the ipod touch still alive) and thus the touch smartphone doesn't kick up for a longer time, instead touch devices are strictly entertainment in a luxurious way (so it's still a status symbol) while the smartphone takes a more corporate side with BlackBerry, maybe with nokia trying to make a youngster version, a N-Gage 2.
With the touch multimedia being a luxury item, proprietary entertainment it's still strong with the mp3 being a cheap option and the mp4 being a common item eith it's upgrades for tech advancement.
Microsoft would release the Zune as competitor to the ipod, without the iphone environment, it would be a interesting duel.
Companies would try to eventually redo the multimedia+phone fusion with a touch screen, but by the time it would arrive, another digital environment different to today would exist so idk how it would go, specially with smartphones being separated in the corporate blackberry and the more risky nokia designs, and the multimedia being separated between luxury devices, a fight of Microsoft VS Apple, and normal folk devices with any other brand on earth it would be funny to see how it goes with the social media aspect tho just a funny thought exercise
