what news sites are actually reputable? a lot of people like cnn or nyt, but i dont know who id even trust for actual, real world, proper news. from what i know, most usa news sites are shifted by the owner's (or state's) political view. i just want to get the latest news without my browser exploding at the amount of js there is. my grandmother has a subscription to the courier, but they only cover stuff that happens here in my state; often covering stuff about my school system, sports, and a few major things that may happen in my town, but nothing global or important to the world! i dont really ever care about the news, but with the stuff i hear is happening now, i think its time i start catching up on the news that has been happening over the years and now.

You probably won't find a singular, completely unbiased news source - it's just human nature (especially with how polarized US politics are right now.) If you want well-informed viewpoints you're probably best off having a few different sites to counteract the inherent bias. Maybe sprinkle in some non-US news sources as well.

It's also just really useful to keep an eye out for BS. If something sounds like it's trying way too hard to sway you one way or the other, it probably is. There's way too many people out there who just trust the first ragebait post they see on Facebook as fact.

Edit: To add, I wish I had specific recommendations, but I don't keep enough of an eagle eye on the news myself to do so. Maybe I should practice what I preach lol.

i dont really expect there to be an unbiased news source, but i just dont know which would actually be good in general. i dont really think it would matter anyways. i spent a few good minutes reading both the republican party website and the democratic party website, and they both just seem dumb. they both are basically fighting for the same thing Laughing anyways. i didnt even know there were any non-US news sources tbh; dont get much anyways. also, people still use facebook? i forgot social media like that even existed. i really only use forums, email, youtube, and sprinkle in a minor amount of discord because people are glued to that. id rather be using aim (aol instant messenger) or something of modern equivalent Smile discord is too bloated imo.

Journalism/Broadcasting/Mass Comm major here.

As others have said, it can be difficult to find a news outlet without any lean at all. The current administration killing funding for public access television and radio complicates things a bit further.

1. The Associated Press - They set the format for all news writing and have journalist around the world. Many news outlets take their headlines directly from the AP. https://apnews.com

2. National Public Radio (NPR) - While having a slight liberal lean, they do a great job of presenting fact-based news that matters to us all. They work hard to present news as it happens. Many universities have partner stations with NPR. You can find your local station from their main site https://npr.org

3. BBC - While residing in the UK, they do a great job at covering world news stories at the level of the AP, but across the pond. https://bbc.com

ill check out ap. i guess the biggest news sites here are WBBJ: Eye Witness News, CNN, and The New York Times. read about some of the wild shit trump is doing. i dont really lean to either side of demo or repub, but i gotta say that trump is NOT playing being president smart. he will stop being president in what? 2029? a news article said hes going to get a third term, which is stupid, unconstitutional, and insane!

We are in unprecedented times where our congressional leaders are turning a blind eye to things the president is doing that he legally doesn't have the authority to do. Thankfully, a few federal judges have stepped in here and there to uphold the law.

Any cable news network (CNN, FOX, MSNBC,etc) will be mostly speculation with a few facts sprinkled in so they can call it a news. These stations are mostly entertainment channels and echo chambers. They exist to make money off their viewers.

The NYT has been known as the Grey/Gray Lady for many years in journalism circles. It was good but long winded and mostly targeted at older readers and journalism students. NYT has had their integrity challenged many times by the current administration but solely to discredit the organization for exposing corruption within the administration.

While you are right, he can't run for a third term legally, it doesn't mean he won't try. The insurrection was real, many people were injured, and I forget the number that died. Nothing about any of that of legal nor should have happened. We should have had many law enforcement agencies and military units dispatched (national guard, national mall police, swat, dc police, etc.) the minute it became violent, but I digress.

The world we were prepared for no longer exists. My hope is that our representatives look beyond greed and do what they are sent to do, defend the constitution, ensure checks and balances, and work in the best interest of the country.
