Here's three of my 2.5-inch Quantum drives. All working at the time of photography (I have videos of each on my secondary YouTube channel), but the GoDrive has since kicked it (as they all do).
One of them is even named after @europa!

Probably the most unusual drive there is, I'll put the JCT 100 up here.

May I present the pile o' drives:
Unfortunately these were not mine, so I do not know exactly what the models are (besides the two Bigfoots on the bottom, which I don't think I ever got back, not that I needed them). There are only 5 drives in this picture _________________

That is a pile indeed. The top drive is a Seagate ST-100, probably an ST-157A given that is the most common IDE model in that body style.
The second drive is also Seagate, ST-200 series. Looks like the sticker reads ST-250R, which is actually a rather unusual drive, this is one of Seagate's "Special" RLL drives, designed to work with the ST-11R(?) controller. These run at 3000RPM instead of the usual 3600 and in that combination they get 32 sectors per track which nearly doubles their native capacity.
The third drive could literally be anything. Control Data, Imprimis, Magnetic Peripherals, and later Seagate all used that body style on some number of drives. There are dozens in each range. Without the exact model number we are unlikely to ever know.
I agree, the fourth and fifth drives are almost certainly Quantum Bigfoots, either the original or TX's if memory serves based on the chassis, as I know the TS went to a black chassis and the CY is slightly taller to accommodate a third platter available in some configurations. |
