This has been on my mind for a while now. And since Reddit is well, itself, either you get no replies or the subreddit needs more karma to post than Windows 11 needs your RAM. And since i've been wanting to move away from that site, maybe you all will be more interested by this.

As you may or may not know, back in September of 1986, Hudsonsoft released SMB Special on the Sharp X1 and NEC PC-8801 platforms. These have been out for a while now, so no need to focus on them here, i think.

In the March of 1989 however, Static Soft ported this version onto the Samsung SPC-1500 platform To my knowledge, a copy of the Sharp X1 This version of the port, as of my knowledge Excuse me for repeating myself, never surfaced. For evidence of it's existence,we have mainly a lone forum post and an magazine of top 20 games.

Something had to remain, right?

Probably, yeah. I doubt anything meaningful though, Nintendo was cracking down on licensing pretty hard by 87-88 so I can't imagine the project got anywhere near a release. Maybe some enterprising employee made a functional version for themselves, but I doubt it went anywhere.

It did, i would say. https://archive.org/details/computer_study_1989-08_korean/page/164/mode/2up.

The game was popular enough to hit the 16th spot, so this version did infact release in some way

Static Soft to my knowledge made alot of games for the SPC-1000, if that somehow helps...

From what information i can find, the SPC-1500 wasn't as successful as it's predecessor. You can even see that on the top 20 list, only three games on there are for this system. The rest are either for Apple or MSX systems.

So, certainly for the systems it was on, the game sold well, atleast imo. But from what i read Mainly HardcoreGaming101, the retro and offline gaming scene in Korea isn't in the best shape...

If this somehow devolves into another Lego Island type deal it would be an unpleasant suprise.
