The title might sound familiar to some, although it problably depends on the household.
I know that "family computers" used to be a thing, had one myself in mine household.
Just one lonesome PC, on some desk somewhere, problably not the newest thing on the market, but it's still there for the important tasks. It's a thing that seems to have went away... From my perspective, due to the rise of mobile touchscreen devices, though i wouldn't be suprised if something else was at play

I always remember visiting my grandparents' house on a Wednesday after school, and I'd get some time on the computer. Would have been ~2008/2009 or so and this was a desktop running Windows 98.
My Dad built it some years earlier using his old system, it was in this mostly transparent and silver case, with blue lighting - still looked cool though. Ran a Cyrix CPU of some sort (I remember the sticker) and a pair of Voodoo 2 cards running in SLI. Honestly, it was complete excess for my grandparents, as it was used to write letters and occasionally play solitaire. However, it looked like the coolest thing I'd ever seen and I built a Windows 98 PC to relive those moments I had, mainly sitting on the CBeebies website, or Cartoon Network.
We lost the system when the hard drive died in 2011, and my Granda bought himself a Compaq CQ56 as it seemed like a good idea at the time. The desktop wasn't worth anything, so off it went.
He's got an IBM Aptiva 2170 (K6-2 450, 64MB RAM, 4GB hard drive etc) now as he missed playing solitaire.
I quite enjoyed writing this post, a little trip into nostalgia. _________________ - Ryan

i was a wee lad when we had our family computer, maybe from 4 to 6 years old? it was a crappy dell latitude d820 (i thiiiink) and it ran VISTA.
i remember playing games and watching youtube on it everyday and it was SO slow at times...
now that laptop sits in my room, i've been wanting to go through it with my father so that i can use is for projects and whatnot.
though it does seem to be a bit of a sore subject now because he's still quite upset that my sister went on sites she wasn't supposed to go on and infected it...
that's literally the only reason why it has vista, it DID have xp on it but my sister ruined that one lol
man i miss being a kid and using that thing, what times those were... _________________ your favorite exploder
