Had DNS issues with the site as of late...
"It's always DNS" - and I've no idea how to fix it. So leaving it in the hands of my friend whose VPS I'm using.

Personally, I have an FD73 and an FD91. I MUCH prefer the FD91, but I really, really wish it supported literally anything other than floppy disks. FlashPath, CompactFlash, *anything*! You can only fit like 3 to 5 full res images on a disk and like, 2 in high quality. It's miserable.
Pretty sure Sony just robbed the front half of a HandyCam to make this thing, it's got all the features you'd expect from a Hi8 HandyCam of the time, and that makes it really excellent at long distance and close ups.
Sadly because of the storage issue I just mentioned, I find myself reaching for the Minolta Dimage EX1500 Zoom every time instead. Sorry! |

They're quite interesting cameras, but definitely not one that I could "daily drive" - I was using a Minolta Dimage F100 which has sadly failed. Now onto a Canon Powershot S20, purely because I wanted to try something different.

The Mavica or the Dimage? I love the EX1500, it works fantastic, honestly.
I had a Sony Cybershot DSC-P52 which was honestly the better camera, but the lens cover broke and now the camera is angry, won't power on! |

Yeah I couldn't run a Mavica all the time, to be honest. They're more of a novelty for me.
I did use my Minolta Dimage all the time though, it was really good and I've taken it all over the country. The in-built lens cover failed while I was in Poland though and I've replaced it with a Canon as a consolation prize...

My Dimage EX1500 has no lens cover, so that's one less bit to fail. The Sony had two plastic shutters that snap over the lens window, and they're jammed in an in-between position. The camera can't open or close them, and so when you turn it on it just beeps at you to turn it back off. |

Yeah that's the same setup as my Dimage F100, and it failed in a similar way - one is open and the other is closed - it starts up and can take pictures but you have half an image. In fairness to the F100, I've taken maybe possibly over 2,000 photographs with it in my ownership, and it's been quite abused.
This new Canon uses the same sort of system for the lens, but it's in really good condition so hoping that works in its favour.

| Hah my Sony was abused heavily by my mom when my brother and I were children. Can't blame it too much for giving up but it's a shame since it took such nice photos. |

Yeah my Dimage was my late father's originally. I've got thousands of his photos from back in the day too.
I do like a Sony camera too though, I've got a DSC-P30 (which is basically a Mavica FD85 without the floppy drive) and it's been really good.
