Seems cool. I've been wanting to go whole hog and set up some kind of transmitter for OTA VHF TV throughout the house. _________________ If you like browsing without an ad blocker, you might also like getting rid of your virus scanner, and running around with your pants down. --SomeGuy, 2016 |

My friend has his Plex server setup and has a 3rd party program called dizqueTV which allows you to build your own IPTV channels.
I just loaded a bunch of old TechTV shows and other old computer shows on to his system and setup a TechTV-esque channel. I even setup a block from 8pm to 4am for late night nerd shows and cartoons including a sci-fi movie that starts at 9pm. I've been watching The Screen Savers, Call for Help, Computer Chronicles and other tech shows. It's pretty fun and removes the choice paralysis involved in browsing large media libraries that streaming networks offer. I just put in the shows I find interesting, shuffle the playlist in a block format and whatever is on is what I watch!
Dizque is okay, but is limited in its features. We're trying a new system similar to it called ErsatzTV which looks like it works like Dizque but with more features and better scheduling. _________________ I do stuff with things for reasons.

| I've always been interested in vintage television, I've actually got a small collection of them. A few years back, a recycling yard (who recently went out of business, sadly!) received a pallette of broadcast television hardware. I took a couple units home, they're 1U RF modulators. I got one for channel 6 VHF and one for channel 16 UHF. Someday, I intend to set these up in the rack and broadcast television throughout my house, and around that same time I intend to find a Cisco uBR7100 so I can do DOCSIS 1.x as well, but that's far flung future projects. |

I recently acquired an RF Modulator myself from an old Channel One system. I was able to get a perfectly clear signal at about 20 feet using some pretty crappy antennas I had laying around. I've been meaning to set it up with some kind of endless video feed for some older TVs around the house. _________________ If you like browsing without an ad blocker, you might also like getting rid of your virus scanner, and running around with your pants down. --SomeGuy, 2016 |

Awesome!
I'm looking in to sourcing a Pi and making my own tv network. _________________ I do stuff with things for reasons.

I managed that with an old SFF PC< VLC Media Player, an HDMI-to-RCA adapter, an RF modulator, and some old TV antennas. Works great. I then stuck a Pi 4 with FieldStation42 on it, so I effectively have 5 channels. Well, 2 channels, one of them is just 4 channels by itself. |
