I know, right? "What do you mean internet access wasn't always on?" :P

I'm sure I'm not the only Cathode Ray Dude viewer here, but in his Five Phone Stories video, he says "Remember when we used to log off? Me either" and I think that really captures the feeling pretty well

Lovely work! Some part of me wants to use one of my machines to connect to something like that, and create a wi-fi network from that connection, like how one might have a home PC as a base station and use a wireless card to create a wireless connection for a laptop or something lol

Like... hosting PPP net access from one PC, and using it as router?
i don't really understand that.

I definitely bridged a wireless network to the ethernet port on my iBook G4 many years ago, because I couldn't afford to run 150 feet of ethernet cable across the whole house but still wanted internet for my desktop in my bedroom.

I should also mention that you can absolutely have a PC do both your PPP and routing for dial-up :)
Windows Server makes this a really easy process, it's how I got my first 56K setup going. Eicon Diva PRI + Server 2003, Microsoft had a driver for it backed up on the Windows Update Catalog, so that's what I set up to take calls. Works great!
