I somehow have forgotten to reply to this thread!

Anyway, I like a lot of RPGs and arcade shmup-style games. For the former, I really enjoy the Atelier series, as well as Fire Emblem, Valkyria Chronicles, the Tactics Ogre series, and others. For the latter, I really like Gradius (and the closely related Parodius), R-Type, Touhou, Raiden, CAVE Interactive titles, and other games along those lines.

On the DS/3DS:

- Cave Story
- Pokémon Black/White and B2/W2

On the Xbox 360:

- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
- Driver San Francisco

On PC:

- Terraria
- Stardew Valley
- Signalis

Those are all amazing games (the CoD games aren't "the best" but I really enjoy them especially compared to the modern Activision ridiculousness).

If I had to pick a top 5 to recommend:

- Driver San Francisco
- Cave Story
- Signalis
- Ace Combat 04
