I recently got my Win98 machine online and found this forum while looking for web pages to browse that were still supported by K-Meleon / RetroZilla and all the retro web projects and communities that are out there.
Growing up in a time when computers were still new, I remember getting our first PC in '96 and being amazed by what it could do. I got internet around '98 and it was like a whole new dimension opened up, and 8 year old me was blown away.
I have fond memories of the Internet growing up through the early 2000s, back when it felt less intrusive and more personal. Forums were still relevant, and a home existed for just about any interest. Communites were active, some even local. A few survive today but most are unfortunately gone.
Its interesting to see a nostalgic resurgence around the topic of early Internet and computer culture. It's a bit of a trip having grown up around it and its super cool to see the all the interest from those curious about the past and those, like me, that are getting that nostalgic itch.
For the tech side of things, I like gaming, both retro and new gen, PC and console. Posting this off my "retro" P4 all-rounder, and currently playing through the GTA series (almost through Vice City) on the PS2.
I'm dabbling in a bit of HTML, building a Neocities site, and playing around with Bryce3D and PS 6.0 for a bit of fun.
I'm posting this off my "retro" P4 machine, running Win98, an its used a bit of an all rounder, retro gaming, web browsing, etc.
Currently working on Extensa 450CD, so I can have a Win95 machine in the fleet. My last vintage machines prior to that were in high school, a generic 386 with Win3.1 and a Macintoch Classic.
Besides tech, I'm into cars, aviation and travel.
Thanks for reading and see you all on the forums! |
