My rigs are all something fairly special

i type this from an x99 build running nixos, it has a xeon e5 2697 v3, 56gb of ram, a 1tb nvme, 500gb ssd, 2 250gb ssds and its in a fractal design case (a core 2300) 1000w psu, 2 optical drives, the works (5700xt + rx580 for virtualisation)

i use a hp lp2065 and an asus vg279qm as monitors, and then in terms of peripherals ive an anne pro 2 / wooting 2 lekker edition (i use either or interchangably depending on my mood) and a kensington expert for general use (wireless) then a sharkoon skiller sgm35 or razer basilisk ultimate for gaming

as a laptop i use a steam deck running nixos with its dock.

I got a couple.

The "vintage" daily driver is an IBM M50 desktop, P4 system running Win98. Fairly capable overall and can run most things without issue, except some of the older stuff.

Not much done to it, except an external sound card as the onboard sound stopped working. I am sorta looking for a GPU to fill the AGP slot, so that might be next.

I picked this computer up in an apartment lobby and kept it in my closet for years before I did anything with it. Nowadays I use it for gaming, web surfing, playing around with CGI, shareware etc. Just having fun with it.

Next unit I picked up was a T.I. Extensa 650CD, a nice P1 machine with a horribly vignetted screen. It was awesome, until it stopped POSTing one day. Had alot of fun with Win95 programs, especially since it was able to run older stuff my Win98 P4 PC couldn't.

I still have an itch to pick up another vintage laptop.

The modern PC is a Ryzen 7 1800x / GTX3060 12G / 32 GB that gets used for everything from work to gaming. I mostly use it for sims, BeamNG, Assetto, X Plane etc. with associated peripherals (wheel/yoke) but I play some other stuff too. It does alright.

I had a couple of vintage machines in the early 2000s as well, namely a generic 386 with Win3.1 and a classic box Mac.
